Just to be prepared in the event of some disease or insect infestation, what are the best products you should have available?

Horticultural Oil is great for many pests including aphids, leaf hoppers and scale. You must spray directly on the insects and this is not good in temperatures are over 85. I also use Bt (Dipel Dust) fro caterpillars of all kinds. My favorite insect and disease control is to pick off the offending leaves or if possible the bugs.

I’m a huge fan of the BT Dipel Dust, too. As a matter of fact, I really like the Safer Brand Caterpillar dust too. I really hate to use any kind of chemical and would much rather be proactive and keep it organic and natural if I can.

I guess if I were preparing a must-have gardening basket (hey, that’s not a bad idea), I’d have Dipel Dust, Caterpillar Dust and my organic insecticidal soap.
