The stems of my tomatoes have growths and bumps on them. What is the problem?

This is called stem primordia and is usually a result of too much moisture in the soil and/or too much humidity. The plant is attempting to grow more roots and the condition is not really harmful to the plant. What is harmful to the plant is the excess moisture and all of the other disease problems that can occur and a result of being too wet too long. Over watering causes many more problems than underwatering!
