What is the best way to prepare the soil in your garden to plant tomatoes? I have had problems in the past with some kind of mildew.

I would not plant tomatoes in the same spot where I had mildew problems in the past! You can try sterilizing the soil by covering it with clear plastic for several months.

Add organic matter. I use partially decomposed leaves and compost.
